Oh my goodness, this book is full of every fact you might want to know about chemistry and is so fun to read. It explains in simple terns what chemistry is and all the different types and what chemists have been up to. Since ancient days right through to today. I found about about chemistry in the world around me, in space and even in my own body. Every page has bright coloured pictures and diagrams to make it easy to understand. I love that it is a fact book that is a smaller A5 size that I can carry around with me. Books like this used to be so big and bulky. This is perfect. I really want to read more about the other subjects now. I will read this one lots more times in the future too and it will help me in school. I really love it.

I have a couple of these Usborne ... for beginners books in my school library and I think they are all fab. They are colourful and spacing on the page is just right. Like all other titles, this chemistry book covers the basics really well. Short and clear definitions and explanations are used, and a contents page at the front and index page at the back means that any topic can be found quickly. I also love the glossary, these are great books to teach students how to use a non fiction book effectively.

This is a great bok to explore chemistry with a child aged year 6 upwards. It's clearly laid out, and the illustrations help further understanding. My son particularly liked the questions to make him think deeper on the page, and the way the illustrations gave direct information to the main subject on the page. I like the variety in the book, many of which were linked to every day situations that chemistry may be involved with eg cooking, fireworks, hospitals, ingredients in face creams. That made it far more accessible. It was definitely as great book to review- and we are now looking in to other books from this series! You could use this book in both the classroom and at home

I love books that make children excited to learn, and this one does exactly that. The chemistry facts are explained simply, the illustrations are full of energy, and the comic layout makes it feel much more fun than a normal school book. A great resource for curious young minds. (Especially good if you want them to be preoccupied instead of on the phone with something educational).
